2018 Canoe Ridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Cold Creek Vineyard is where I spent my formative years learning about growing grapes. It was an honor to have a young block of Cabernet dedicated to me upon my retirement. The wine from “my block” showcases vibrant ripe berries, violets and a long, rich finish.

The Jonté is a natural dancer. Ten percent barrel ferment provides the rhythm while aromas of green apple and white flower flitter into lively citrus and snap peas. The palate twirls between rich tangerine and tropical guava. Harmonized flavors and lush textures give this wine an elegant, long finish.

This Block 9 Merlot is unreserved in expression yet retains freshness and balance. Aromas soar from the glass bringing lush black and blue fruits intertwined with sweet baking spices. The palate is splendidly textured, displaying a dense bramble of ripe fruit that gives way to a long, resounding finish.

This wine is a beautiful ensemble of Old World wine making flare. With 7% co-fermented Viognier, this Syrah is elegant and floral with aromas of dried red fruits, honeysuckle and cedar. The palate is a balance of complex bright red fruits, lifted texture and spice followed by a vibrant, savory finish.

Using the yeast naturally occurring on the grapes in the vineyard allows this wine to show the complexity and depth that slower and more diverse fermentations can yield. Bright berry notes jump out but give way to cucumber and herbs.

Classic Zin characters of light raspberry jam and toast, I added just a touch of Syrah to fill out the palate but still keep the wonderful Zinnyness. Enjoy!

Bing cherry mingles with aromas of grilled meat, fragrant lavender and a hint of vanilla. Red fruits grace the palate showing notes of loganberry, red plum, juniper berry and vanilla. Luscious texture woos the senses with mid-palate roundness, zesty tannin and just enough acid for a pleasing finish.

This inky dark Malbec has aromas of blackberry, huckleberry and black raspberry which lead to a velvety smooth palate that is structured and lengthy offering notes of white pepper and spice.

The 2018 vintage provided magical conditions to create a complex Merlot. Dineen Vineyard makes up 55% of this wine, and I added depth and texture with 45% old vine Cold Creek Vineyard Merlot. This Merlot encapsulates everything that is remarkable about Washington State Merlot made by Chateau Ste. Michelle.
