WSET Course Enrollment Options and Information
The WSET Level 2 Award in Wines is intended for people who have little or no prior wine knowledge. It is suitable wherever a good level of wine knowledge is required to underpin job skills and competencies or for those who have a general interest in wine and wish to broaden their knowledge. Successful candidates will gain knowledge of the principal and regionally important grape varieties of the world, the regions in which they are grown, and the styles of wine they produce. Through a combination of tasting and theory, you’ll explore the factors that impact style and quality and learn how to describe these wines with confidence.
There are TWO options. Both courses are online, but you have the option for an online OR in-person exam. Select only ONE option for the exam. This 5-week online course is intended for Ste. Michelle Wine Estates employees only.
1. Online Course and Online Exam
$398.50 cost includes all study materials, access to the WSET L2 online course, the online WSET examination and postage.
2. Online Course and In-Person Exam
$460 cost includes all study materials, access to the WSET L2 online course, the in-person WSET examination and postage.
Upon completion of the course you will:
1. Understand the environmental influences and grape-growing options in the vineyard and how these will impact the style and quality of wine.
2. Understand how winemaking and bottle ageing influence the style and quality of wine.
3. Understand how environmental influences, grape-growing options, winemaking and bottle ageing influence the style and quality of wines made from the principal grape varieties.
4. Know the style and quality of wines produced from regionally important black and white grape varieties.
5. Understand how the production process can influence the styles of sparkling and fortified wines.
6. Understand the key principles and processes involved in the storage and service of wine, and in the pairing of food and wine.

Re-Sit Options:
If you were not successful on your first exam, you have the option to re-sit the exam for an additional fee. Please select from the online or in-person exam re-sit options. These fees may not be reimbursable by your department and may need to be a personal expense. Please check with your manager prior to signing up via email to lauren.king@smwe.com.
